Meet our Lead Teacher: Michelle Reid

Michelle Reid has been a parent at Seymour Heights Play-Based Programs since 2007, when it was originally Seymour Heights Parent Participation Preschool. She held almost every parent job possible during her six years here. She also spent a year working in our school as a Support Worker in 2012/2013. With a deep knowledge base of the school already, we were very excited when she joined us in the role of Lead Preschool Teacher in September 2014.

Michelle completed a degree in elementary education at the University of Victoria in 2000 but fell in love with early childhood education when she started at the preschool with her oldest daughter in 2007. Both Michelle and her husband, Dave, attended Parent Participation Preschools as children and they knew they wanted to continue that tradition with their own girls. Michelle enrolled at Capilano University in their Early Childhood Care and Education program in 2010 with the specific intent of eventually teaching in a parent participation preschool. She is thrilled to be able to now work in the same school that ignited her passion.

Originally from White Rock, Michelle has lived in North Vancouver since 2001. She is the busy mother of three active daughters and is very passionate about early childhood education. She believes strongly that children should have a deep connection to the outdoors and also loves to explore books and stories with children. She believes that education should be a cooperative process with the children, teachers, and families all constructing the journey together.

Meet our Teacher: Kerrie Sinclair

Kerrie Sinclair has been with Seymour Heights Play-Based Programs since September 2014. Before joining the team she was a stay at home mom to her 3 girls for 8 years. Seymour Heights PBP was her first experience in a parent participation school and she has and continues to enjoy working closely with the children and their families.

Kerrie completed her Early Childhood Care and Education at Capilano University in 2002. She entered the field straight out of school and knew she had made the right decision to work with children. She enjoys being on the floor with the children and exploring their interests. She has a great love of books and loves sharing that passion with children.

Kerrie is from Ottawa but moved to Vancouver in 1998 after meeting her husband and now lives in North Vancouver since 2000. She is the mother of three energetic girls. She enjoys being outdoors hiking or biking the trails in North Vancouver or boating up and down the BC coast. In the winter she skis with her family up at Whistler.

Meet our Teacher: Ladan Mohammadi

Ladan Mohammadi has been working with children for three years and is very excited to start her journey at Seymour Heights Play-Based Programs in October 2017.

She is a mother of two beautiful sons, Ali and Daniel. Being with her boys helped her realize how important their early years are and was very thankful to be a stay-at-home mom for several years.

Ladan was attracted to the Reggio Emilia approach and she loves working with natural materials such as leaves, wood, water and sand. She also feels that light tables are excellent for showing all kinds of things and let the children experiment and explore.

She spends her free time with her boys and watching them play soccer and other sports.
